It’s time for one of my favorite activities of the year: pouring through the playlists I’ve built over the course of the year to pick my 50 favorite tracks. As always, there were a few more that I wanted to squeeze in, but in the end I’m happy with my final choices. I’ve been lucky enough to see 24 of these bands perform live this year, and I’m lucky enough to work in music so that I have an excuse to keep up my live music habit. My live music highlights were at SXSW seeing Superorganism exuberantly performing on a tiny stage at the Barracuda and Dermot Kennedy’s voice reverberating in a church; at Outside Lands finally seeing Bon Iver in person; at Treasure Island Music Festival to see Jungle and Tame Impala; at Upstream to see Cut Copy and Lukas Nelson. And that doesn’t even count the fantastic separate shows I loved like Rostam, Arcade Fire, and LCD Soundsystem. But this is about my favorite 50 songs of the year…. so check it out below. You can also skip to the end to see my Amazon Music and Spotify playlists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
